Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we need it, who helps us run FlairMingo, and how to delete it. We don't sell your personal information for money.
The Short Version
- No sign-up needed, but your data is still saved. On your first visit we create a private guest account for you on our servers, so your taste profiles, boards and plans are kept as you go and follow you if you sign up later.
- We use what you tell us to rank ideas for you. That includes your taste profile sliders, any optional answers (such as age bracket), what you save, and what you tap on.
- Some features use AI. When you use one, the details it needs (for example a product photo, or a goal you type) are sent to an AI service (Google's Gemini models) to produce the answer.
- Analytics and affiliate cookies only run if you accept them.
- You can delete everything at any time from "Manage My Data" in the footer. That deletes your account on our servers as well as the copy on your device.
FlairMingo ("we", "us", "our") operates the FlairMingo website and web app. This policy covers everyone who uses it, whether or not you create an account.
What We Collect
Things you tell us. All of these are optional; you only share what the features you use ask for.
- Your taste profiles: the slider values you set in each category. For Wellbeing these cover things like calm, sleep, energy and gut health. For Beauty they cover things like sensitive, dry or breakout-prone skin.
- About you: your age bracket and gender, if you choose them to fine-tune results. "Prefer not to say" is always available.
- Wellbeing routines: the goal you pick or type in your own words (goals cover areas such as sleep, stress, digestion, joints or using a GLP-1 medication), a starting self-score, and your weekly check-ins.
- Mood check-ins: if you tap a mood (for example "stressed" or "tired") to get suggestions.
- What you save: boards, notes, brands you love or follow, shopping plans, and the products you tap through to a retailer (your Shopping board).
- Searches and questions you type.
- Plans and occasions: details you add about other people to plan gifts or events, such as their first name, relationship, birthday (day and month; the year is optional), age band, gender, interests, budget and notes. Also any photo you add to a plan, names entered for a Secret Santa draw, and names and messages on gift invitations.
- Dinner plans: your menu, guest numbers, timings and any dietary needs or allergies you enter.
- Photos for Snap & Save: sent to an AI service to recognise the product, then discarded. If you save the result, we keep the product name, brand, barcode and label text, not the photo.
- Bills and money tools: the bills, reminders and choices you enter.
- Savings plans: your goal, the amounts and dates you enter, balance updates, the ideas you add, your reminder day, whether you chose to include a scheme (such as Help to Save) in your plan (yes or no), and a history of goals you've reached. Guest accounts store the plan the same way, and a guest account with a saved plan is not deleted for being unused. Savings does not ask about or store whether you get any benefit. "Delete this plan" deletes all of it, including your goal history. Savings analytics never include the exact amounts you enter.
- Account details: your email address and name if you sign up (passwords are handled by our login provider and we never see them), and your email if you join a waitlist or ask us to email you your profile.
Things collected automatically:
- Account and session IDs: random identifiers for your guest or signed-in account and your visit.
- Activity in the app: what you view, save and tap through to, linked to your account ID. We use it to personalise results and improve the product.
- Your country: worked out from your IP address so we show the right shops and prices. We store the country, not the IP address. IP addresses are also used briefly to stop abuse (rate limiting) and appear in our server logs.
- Device and error information: browser, device type and screen size, and error reports when something breaks.
- Only if you accept cookies: analytics (Google Analytics 4) and affiliate tracking (Skimlinks). See "Cookies and Similar Technologies".
Health-Related and Other Sensitive Information
Some optional answers can say something about your health: wellbeing goals and check-ins, skin concerns, moods, medication such as GLP-1, and dietary needs or allergies in a dinner plan.
FlairMingo gives general ideas, not medical advice. See the Wellbeing & Health Disclaimer in our Terms.
Information About Other People
When you plan a gift or an occasion you may tell us about someone else. Please only add what they would be comfortable with, and nothing sensitive about them. We use it only for your plans; it is never used to contact them or to build a profile of them. It is deleted when you delete the plan or your account.
How We Use Your Data
- Ranking ideas for you: your taste profiles, optional answers, saved brands and activity decide the order of what you see. See "How our rankings work" for the main factors.
- Saving your work: keeping your taste profiles, boards, routines and plans across visits and devices.
- Running AI features you choose to use, such as Snap & Save, the wellbeing coach, dinner plans and search answers.
- Keeping the service safe and working: preventing abuse, fixing errors and securing accounts.
- Improving FlairMingo: understanding which features help and which don't.
- Account emails: sign-in links, password resets and important service updates.
We do not use fingerprinting, and we do not track you across other websites. We do not sell or rent your personal information for money. For how affiliate cookies are treated under US state law, see the US section below.
Who Helps Us Run FlairMingo
These companies process data for us, each only for the job described:
- Supabase (hosted on Amazon Web Services in Ireland): accounts, database and server functions. This is where your guest or signed-in account lives.
- Netlify: hosts the website and works out your country from your IP address.
- Google: its Gemini AI models power our AI features, and, only if you accept cookies, Google Analytics 4.
- EvoLink: a gateway that passes some AI requests to Google's Gemini models.
- Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.): error reports. If you have accepted cookies, it may also record a masked replay of the moments before a crash, with all text hidden and images blocked.
- ipapi.co: a backup country lookup, used only if Netlify's doesn't answer. It sees your IP address.
- Skimlinks (Skimbit Ltd, a Taboola/Connexity company): affiliate links, only if you accept cookies.
- Image services (Pexels, Unsplash and logo.dev): your browser loads some product and brand pictures directly from them, so they see your IP address.
When you tap through to a retailer, that retailer's own privacy policy applies on their site. Some of our links are affiliate links: if you buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Commission never affects how we rank ideas, or the order of the shops we list.
Data Storage & Security
Your account data, guest or signed in, is stored in our Supabase database in Ireland (EU), encrypted in transit and at rest. If you use FlairMingo without an account, it is kept under an anonymous guest identity (no name or email), so your work isn't lost; creating an account links it to your email. A copy is also kept in your browser's local storage so the app loads quickly. All connections use HTTPS, and login tokens are short-lived and refreshed automatically. The Baby chapter is different: see "The Baby chapter" below. The Weight chapter is different: see "The Weight chapter" below. The Moving chapter is different: see "The Moving chapter" below. The First Place chapter is different: see "The First Place chapter" below. The Greener Home chapter is different: see "The Greener Home chapter" below. The Investing chapter is different: see "The Investing chapter" below. The School chapter is different: see "The School chapter" below.
How Long We Keep It
- Your account and everything in it (taste profiles, saves, routines, plans): until you delete it.
- Savings plans: until you use "Delete this plan" (which also deletes your goal history) or delete your account.
- Unused guest accounts: deleted automatically after 30 days without a visit, unless you saved a taste profile, a board or a savings plan. Guest accounts with saved work are kept until you delete them.
- When you delete your account: it is deleted straight away, with no recovery period. A few records, such as anonymous counts of retailer clicks and mood taps, may be kept without any link to you.
- Secret Santa draws and gift invitations: their links stop working after 90 and 30 days. You can ask us to delete the records sooner.
- Trip share links: if you choose "Share your trip", we store a copy of your trip plan and to-do list so anyone you send the link to can view it. It holds your first name, how many adults and children are going (not their ages), the month you travel (exact dates only if you turn them on), your plan, its estimated costs and your to-do list. It never holds your email address, home airport or budget, and it isn't linked to your account. A secret key kept in your browser lets you update or unshare it; if you clear your browser's data you can no longer unshare it. The link stops working 30 days after your trip, and expired links are deleted within 7 days.
- Waitlist and emailed-profile addresses: until you ask us to remove them.
- Error reports: kept by Sentry for up to 90 days.
- Analytics (only with consent): kept by Google for no more than 14 months.
- The copy on your device: until you clear it or use "Manage My Data".
Your Rights and Choices
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you, and receive a copy in a portable format.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete your account and data.
- Restrict or object to how we use it.
- Withdraw consent for cookies at any time.
Do it yourself: "Manage My Data" in the footer (also in Settings) deletes your account from our servers and clears this device. It also offers a download of the data on this device. For a full copy of everything we hold, including what's stored on our servers, email privacy@flairmingo.com. We reply within one month, and may need to confirm the request comes from you.
The Baby chapter
If you use the Baby chapter, your plan is kept only on this device, in this browser. We don't keep a copy on our servers, and it isn't linked to your account.
What it holds: the month you'd like to be ready by, your setup answers (such as who the plan is for, whether you're shopping for one or two, who's helping and how you'd like it to feel), the items you tick or set aside, any amounts you plan to spend, your notes and your own list items, any first names you add, and the moments and photos you save. Photos are resized on your device, which removes their location data.
What we don't ask: we never ask about health or medical details. Anything you type in a note or a moment stays on your device, so keep anything private out of it if others use this device.
What leaves your device: your plan isn't sent to us, to analytics or to error reports. Google Analytics is switched off in the chapter, and affiliate scripts don't run in it. Like any website, our hosting provider receives your IP address and which page or file your browser asks for. If you tap a shop link, the shop sees a general search (for example "car seat") and that you came from flairmingo.com, but nothing from your plan. Some shop links may go through an affiliate network so we can earn a commission; shop lists are never ordered by commission. Anything you choose to share (your list as text, a picture or a calendar file) goes only where you send it.
Deleting it: "Close this chapter" in Baby settings deletes your plan, notes and moments from this device (you have a few seconds to undo). "Manage My Data" in the footer deletes it too. "Export My Data" includes your plan but not your photos.
The Weight chapter
If you use the Weight chapter, your plan is kept only on this device, in this browser. It holds what you enter: your weigh-ins, your goal and, if you add it, your height, plus the wins and ideas you note and your setup answers. The plan isn't sent to our servers, to analytics or to error reports, and affiliate scripts don't run on the chapter. You can delete it any time with "Delete my weight data" in Weight settings, or with "Manage My Data" in the footer.
The Moving chapter
If you use the Moving chapter, your plan is kept only on this device, in this browser, under keys starting flairmingo.moving. (the plan itself, flairmingo.moving.v1, and a note of your last visit, flairmingo.moving.visit). It holds your moving date or month, simple setup answers (such as whether you're renting or buying, roughly how far you're going, and who and what is coming with you), how you'd like it to feel, the jobs you tick off, the ideas you save and any short to-dos you add yourself. We never ask for your address, postcode or name, and a to-do that looks like an address is refused. Anything you type stays on your device. The plan isn't sent to our servers, and the chapter sends nothing to analytics. Links out of the chapter carry nothing about you or your move, and affiliate scripts don't run on it. You can delete it any time with "Delete my moving plan" in the chapter's settings, or with "Manage My Data" in the footer.
The First Place chapter
If you use the First Place chapter, your plan is kept only on this device, in this browser, under keys starting flairmingo.firstplace. (the plan itself, flairmingo.firstplace.v1, and a note of your last visit, flairmingo.firstplace.visit). It holds your setup answers, your key date or month (and any other dates you copy in from your paperwork), the rough shape of your place, the jobs you tick off, where each item on your list stands, the ideas you save, the titles of any short to-dos you add yourself and, if you choose to give one, a rough kit-out budget figure (rounded, used only to suggest how it might be spread across your list). We never ask for your address or your name, and a to-do that looks like an address or postcode is refused. The budget figure is optional, stays in the plan on this device, and is never sent anywhere, put in a link, shared or drawn on your keepsake picture. Anything you type stays on your device. The plan isn't sent to our servers, and the chapter sends nothing to analytics. Links out of the chapter carry nothing about you or your plan, and affiliate scripts don't run on it. You can delete it any time with "Delete my first place plan" in the chapter's settings, or with "Delete All Data" under "Manage My Data" in the footer.
The Greener Home chapter
If you use the Greener Home chapter, your plan is kept only on this device, in this browser, under keys starting flairmingo.greenerhome. (the plan itself, flairmingo.greenerhome.v1, and a note of your last visit, flairmingo.greenerhome.visit). It holds your setup answers (such as whether you own, rent or let the home, which part of the UK it is in, the kind of home and heating, and a rough band for your energy bill, never the amount), the jobs you tick off, where each item on your list stands, any dates you pin, and any meter readings you choose to type in (in your meter's own units, never money). We never ask for your address, postcode, meter number, energy supplier or name, and never for a bill amount. Anything you type stays on your device. The plan isn't sent to our servers, and the chapter sends nothing to analytics. Links out of the chapter carry nothing about you or your plan, and affiliate scripts don't run on it. If you choose to share something from the chapter, it goes only where you send it, and never with your address or a bill amount. You can delete it any time with "Delete my plan" in the chapter's settings, or with "Delete All Data" under "Manage My Data" in the footer.
The Investing chapter
The Investing chapter works out examples from numbers you type: your age, the age you'd like to use the money, how much is in your pot, what you and your employer put in, and any changes you try. These numbers are kept only in your browser on this device. We don't send them to our servers, include them in analytics or error reports, put them in links, or share them with anyone, including any provider you visit from the chapter.
If you're signed in, your numbers still stay on this device and don't sync to your other devices. You can download your plan as a file, load it on another device, or clear it at any time from the chapter.
We may count that the chapter was opened, or that a change or link was tapped, without any of your numbers. If we ever list providers, a link to one may carry a reference so we can be paid for an introduction; it carries none of your numbers, and we only add it if you have agreed to marketing cookies.
The chapter makes no automated decisions about you. It only does the arithmetic on the numbers you choose.
The School chapter
If you use the School chapter, your plan is kept only on this device, in this browser, under keys starting flairmingo.school. (the plan itself, flairmingo.school.v1, and a note of your last visit, flairmingo.school.visit). It holds what you tell it: how many children, the school year each is going into, a first name or nickname if you add one, sizes and a short note if you add them, when school starts, roughly where you are (to get the usual dates right), any help with costs you expect, the jobs you tick off and what you've bought or already have. The plan isn't sent to our servers, and the chapter sends nothing about it to analytics. Links to shops carry only a general search phrase, never a child's name or anything else from your plan; some are affiliate links. A list you share, copy or print leaves this device only when you send it. You can delete the plan any time with "Delete my school plan" in the chapter's settings, or with "Manage My Data" in the footer.
Cookies & Similar Technologies
We use cookies and browser storage in three groups. Only the essential group is on by default.
- Essential: your login session (guest or signed in), your saved data and preferences such as your country, and your cookie choice. These are needed for the site to work and can't be switched off.
- Analytics: Google Analytics 4, to understand how the site is used. Google's script only loads after you accept, so nothing is sent to Google before then. Advertising features stay off even after you accept.
- Affiliate: Skimlinks. It may turn some retailer links into affiliate links and set cookies so a retailer can tell us you came from FlairMingo and we can earn a commission. It loads only if you accept.
On your first visit the cookie banner offers Reject all and Accept all, given equal weight, and Choose, which lets you turn analytics and affiliate cookies on or off separately. You can change your mind at any time with "Manage Cookies" or "Your Privacy Choices" in the footer. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a rejection and don't ask.
Children
FlairMingo is designed for adults and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. When planning a gift you may tell us a recipient's age band, including a child's; we use that only to suggest gifts. If you think a child has given us their information, email privacy@flairmingo.com and we will delete it.
Data Controller & Company Information
The data controller responsible for your personal information is FlairMingo, a trading name of a sole trader based in England, United Kingdom.
Our Data Protection Officer can be contacted at dpo@flairmingo.com about anything in this policy.
Lawful Basis for Processing (UK, Ireland & EU)
Under the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR (which applies in Ireland) and the UK Data Protection Act 2018, we rely on:
- Contract: to provide the service you ask for, including your account, saving your work, ranking ideas and running the features you use.
- Consent: for analytics and affiliate cookies, masked error replays, and waitlist emails. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests: keeping the service secure, preventing abuse, fixing errors, working out your country, and improving the product, where these don't override your rights.
International Data Transfers
Our database is in Ireland, but some of the services above, including Google, Sentry, Netlify and EvoLink, may process data in other countries, including the United States. Where data leaves the UK or EEA we rely on adequacy decisions, the UK–US data bridge, or approved contract terms: the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum. For Australian users, we take reasonable steps to make sure overseas recipients handle your information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Your Rights Under US State Privacy Laws
If you live in California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah or another US state with a comprehensive privacy law, you also have these rights:
- Know and access: the categories and specific pieces of personal information we hold.
- Delete and correct it.
- Opt out of sale or sharing: we do not sell your personal information for money. If you accept affiliate cookies, Skimlinks receives click and device data, which may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law. Affiliate cookies are off by default. You can opt out at any time by rejecting cookies, using "Your Privacy Choices" or "Manage Cookies", sending a Global Privacy Control signal, or emailing us.
- Non-discrimination: using these rights won't change the service you get.
What we collect (California categories): identifiers (account ID, email); internet activity (activity in the app, and affiliate clicks if you consent); approximate location (your country, never precise location); inferences (your taste profiles and preferences); photos you submit for recognition; financial planning information you enter in Savings (your goal, amounts and dates, but never whether you get a benefit); and optional sensitive personal information (health-related wellbeing, skin, mood and dietary answers). We use sensitive personal information only to provide the service you ask for, so no separate "limit" request is needed. We keep each category for the periods under "How Long We Keep It".
To make a request, email privacy@flairmingo.com. We will confirm your identity first and respond within 45 days.
Your Rights Under Canadian Privacy Law
If you live in Canada, PIPEDA and, in Quebec, Law 25 give you the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you, and challenge its accuracy and completeness.
- Withdraw consent, subject to legal or contractual limits.
- In Quebec, ask for your information in a structured, commonly used format and ask for its dissemination to stop.
We collect, use and disclose personal information only for purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate. Our privacy officer can be reached at dpo@flairmingo.com. If you are unsatisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or, in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information (cai.gouv.qc.ca).
Your Rights Under Brazilian Privacy Law (LGPD)
If you are a resident of Brazil, the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD) provides you with the following rights:
- Confirmation of the existence of processing of your personal data.
- Access to your personal data.
- Correction of incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated data.
- Anonymisation, blocking, or deletion of unnecessary or excessively processed data.
- Data portability to another service provider.
- Deletion of data processed with your consent.
- Information about public and private entities with which we share your data.
- Revocation of consent at any time.
Our lawful bases under LGPD include consent and the legitimate interests of the controller. Our encarregado (DPO) can be reached at dpo@flairmingo.com. You may file a complaint with the ANPD (Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados) at gov.br/anpd.
Your Rights Under Australian Privacy Law
If you live in Australia, the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) apply:
- We collect personal information only when it is reasonably necessary for our functions (APP 3), and health-related information only with your consent, when you choose to give it.
- We take reasonable steps to keep it accurate and secure (APPs 10–11).
- You can access it (APP 12) and ask us to correct it (APP 13).
- We will not use it for direct marketing unless you have consented, or would reasonably expect it and can opt out (APP 7).
If you believe we have breached the APPs, contact us first at privacy@flairmingo.com. If you are unsatisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the latest version. We will email registered users about material changes.
